10 Upcoming MMORPGs Worth Waiting For in 2026 and Beyond
1. Chrono Odyssey
Chrono Odyssey remains one of the most visually impressive upcoming fantasy MMORPGs. Built around a large open world, action combat and its distinctive time-manipulation mechanics, it has attracted attention since its first major gameplay reveal.
The game is aiming for a darker and more grounded fantasy atmosphere than many traditional Korean MMORPGs, with large-scale battles, exploration and challenging encounters playing major roles.
There is still plenty we need to learn about how the final game will come together, but Chrono Odyssey is certainly one to watch.
2. ArcheAge Chronicles
ArcheAge Chronicles takes players back to the world of Auroria, but it isn't simply trying to recreate the original ArcheAge.
The project places much greater emphasis on action-oriented combat, exploration and cooperative gameplay while retaining the fantasy world and lore associated with the series.

3. Guild Wars 3
This one no longer has to live in the rumor category.
ArenaNet officially announced Guild Wars 3 in June 2026. The game takes players to ancient Orr more than a thousand years before the original Guild Wars and introduces the Vaelwardens, a guild dedicated to protecting the land and its inhabitants. Guild Wars 3
ArenaNet has also revealed a movement system involving gliding, riding and wall-running. A beta opportunity is planned for 2027, so there is still a considerable wait ahead. Guild Wars 3

4. Horizon Steel Frontiers
The Horizon universe is moving into MMORPG territory with Horizon Steel Frontiers.
Developed by NCSOFT in collaboration with Guerrilla, the project takes the machine-hunting concept of Horizon and expands it into a multiplayer environment.
Large-scale encounters with machines could be particularly interesting in an MMO setting. It is also one of the projects on this list with a major established franchise behind it.
5. Soulframe
From Digital Extremes, the studio behind Warframe, comes Soulframe.
Rather than simply creating "Warframe with swords," Digital Extremes is building a slower fantasy adventure centered around nature, exploration, combat and cooperation.
Soulframe is already playable through its evolving Preludes version, which Digital Extremes describes as the game's current pre-alpha phase. The studio says there is currently no firm date for the full release. Soulframe

6. Stars Reach
Stars Reach is one of the more unusual games on this list.
Instead of focusing exclusively on combat and traditional MMO progression, it aims to deliver a highly interactive sandbox in which players can influence and modify the worlds around them.
Terraforming, exploration, crafting, settlements and a player-driven economy make this particularly interesting for players who miss the more experimental sandbox MMORPGs of the past.

7. Bellatores
Bellatores is another ambitious MMORPG project coming from South Korea, but its presentation is noticeably different from the bright and heavily stylized fantasy worlds associated with many games from the region.
Its medieval setting, Unreal Engine 5 technology, action combat and emphasis on faction conflict make it an interesting project to follow.
The biggest question is whether the final game can deliver the scale and depth promised by its concept.

8. Eternal Tombs
Eternal Tombs doesn't have the budget or name recognition of some of the giants on this list, but its concept makes it worth watching.
One of its most interesting ideas is the use of human Tomb Masters, who can influence the game world and create dynamic experiences for players.
If the developers can successfully turn that idea into a sustainable MMORPG system, Eternal Tombs could offer something considerably different from the typical theme-park MMO.

9. Eclipse: The Awakening
Eclipse: The Awakening is another MMORPG coming from the Korean market.
The project is targeting both PC and mobile and is designed around a large fantasy world, combat and multiplayer progression.
There is still considerably less international information available about Eclipse than games such as Guild Wars 3 or Soulframe, so this is one where expectations should remain measured until we see more substantial gameplay.
10. AION 2
Finally, there is AION 2, the follow-up to one of NCSOFT's most recognizable MMORPGs.
Compared with several projects on this list, AION 2 is much closer to becoming something players can actually get their hands on. That makes it an especially interesting game to watch as NCSOFT attempts to modernize the AION formula for a new generation.
For fans of large-scale Korean fantasy MMORPGs, this is one of the most obvious titles to keep on the radar.
